About us
Who we are, what this site is for, and how it pays for itself.
What Nobody Explains publishes explanatory journalism on behind the counter, paperwork, queues & waiting. The idea is unremarkable: take a subject people are expected to already understand, and set out how it actually works, at the length that takes.
What we cover
The site is organised into 5 sections:
- Behind The Counter — What is happening on the other side while you wait.
- Paperwork — Why a form asks what it asks, and what happens to it afterwards.
- Queues & Waiting — How waiting is designed, measured and occasionally manipulated.
- Small Print — The clause that matters, in the document nobody finishes reading.
- Unwritten Rules — Conventions with no author that everyone is expected to follow anyway.
Process and convention. Not legal rights, and not psychology. Keeping the remit narrow is deliberate; a title that covers everything covers nothing well.
How we work
Our standard is simple: a piece should be accurate, it should be complete enough to act on, and it should be honest about its own limits. An article that leaves out the awkward part is not finished.
Our full editorial policy sets out how pieces are researched, reviewed and corrected.
How this site is funded
The site is funded by advertising. Advertising has no influence over what we cover or what we conclude, and no advertiser sees an article before it is published. Nothing on this site is sponsored content, and if that ever changes it will be labelled clearly at the top of the piece.
Who publishes it
What Nobody Explains is published by Pandey Digital Media, a business owned and run by Ritesh Pandey, registered in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. It has been publishing since 2020.
The registered address appears on our contact page and in our terms and conditions. The quickest way to reach the editorial desk is the form on the contact page, or editorial@whatnobodyexplains.com.
Photography
Photographs are licensed from Pexels and credited to the photographer beneath each image. We do not use generated imagery, and we do not present a photograph as documentation of the specific thing an article describes unless the caption says so.
